Measure Access for Your New Shed
This picture shows how to measure gate openings for your new portable building. It is imperative that we can safely bring your new storage shed into your yard and set it where you want it. Please measure your gate and any other narrow passages as shown and remember air conditioners, trees, and any other obstacles there may be to get your pre-manufactured shed delivered. We are happy to come do a site visit if necessary to make sure a portable building will fit. If the driver shows up to your yard with the shed and it does not fit, there will be an attempted delivery fee from Stor-Mor. Always measure your clearance from the narrowest point of any obstructions. For example, if we need to get close to your house measure from the eave of the house, not the wall. Think about our clearance up high as well. Height and width requirements to safely maneuver a portable building are about 2 feet wider and higher than the building. If you are unsure whether we can get a prefabricated building in the location you want it, then please call us and we can schedule a time to come look at your where you want to put your storage shed.
The Mule
Installing your shed to the desired spot is easy work with this handy machine. We unload your prefabricated shed off the the truck out at the road and then bring your shed onto your property using “The Mule”. The Mule can maneuver into tight areas and is very easy on your yard. Even though we can usually get into tighter places than most people realize, if you are in any doubt please send pictures or let us come look at where you want your portable building so we can make sure it does work to get it at the desired spot.
Leveling your shed
Because your portable storage building is pre-manufactured, all we have to do is navigate your shed to the spot where you want it and then level it using treated wood blocks. The whole process takes very little of your time and no effort from you.
Concrete Blocks, gravel etc.
Concrete blocks, gravel pads, or concrete foundations are not necessary for most situations. However, these are the style of blocks that work the best, all you need to do is have them on hand at delivery and we’ll set them under the building for you. They are 4 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 16 inches long. Setting your portable building on blocks incurs no extra charge unless you want it taller than 2 blocks high. After two blocks high there will be an extra charge for setting your shed on blocks.
Hurricane/Tie Down Anchors
Hurricane tie down anchors are not included in our free delivery and setup. They are, however, available from the delivery driver at time of delivery and are payable to him at $70 each. We do not collect money for the tie downs. They are about 30 inches long and where possible are installed on an angle and all the way into the ground.
Final Inspection
Before leaving, our delivery technician will double check that the windows and doors of your portable building work properly, the building is level and where you want it, and that there are no issues. Then you get to sign off that you are happy with the shed and how it is installed.
